Principle 11: Meridians & The Suble Body

Foundations of Yin

This is Meridian Subtle Body Yin, where we will start to dive into working with the ancient system of the meridians of the body through a postural practice. If you want to dive into this in more depth, we encourage you to do the program “Medicinal Yin for Spirit.”

Rather than the yogi system of chakras and nadis, yin yoga focuses on the subtle body as understood through Taoism and Traditional Chinese Medicine. For thousands of years, like the yogis, Chinese medicine has postulated the belief that physical existence is animated by a dynamic energy system that, although unseen, is the source of all existence.

Primordial energy, or chi, is the foundation of life, and we can work with the body to activate the way it flows and grows within our own body. Meridians are the channels or highways through which the chi flows in very specific directions and areas.
