Day 3

Durga and Courage

“Courage is the most important of all the virtues because without courage, you can't practice any other virtue consistently.” - Maya Angelou

Durga Maa invokes in us this warrior energy. Fearless, courageous and authentic. Our fierce mother calls on us to be as courageous as her. She is depicted riding a lion or tiger, her 8 arms brandishing weapons to slay the demons of the psyche, as well as symbols of the creative feminine - a conch, a lotus, rosary beads. Her beautiful face is soft yet focused, fearless and composed.

How to move through Day 3

  • Begin your day doing the Soulful Flow for Courage.

  • Do the 30 minute Daily Practice of Mantra and Meditation.

  • Take 5-10 minutes to journal, find the journalling prompts under the Daily Practice.

Additional Practices

  • Discuss with someone you love and trust the things that you have done in your life that have made you feel fearless.

Soulful Flow for Courage

Connecting to the strength in Durga - 35 mins

Inner Strength

The yogi is fearless. She has the courage to step out of social norms and resist the seductions of a hedonistic lifestyle. She has the inner strength to show up for herself on the mat, do the hard work that her spiritual growth requires and be authentic in the world. We need an abundance of courage to speak our truth and to live a life that is meaningful to us, a life of our soul’s purpose. Our Dharma.

By invoking Durga Maa, we are given the courage to confront our inner demons without fear, the courage to set boundaries in our relationships and the courage to fight for what we believe in and the life we want to live. She shows us that we have all of the tools we need to destroy our limitations and we can win the fight with composure and grace.
